Jeep Tour: Corcovado, Santa Tereza, Lapa Arches

You will be met at your Rio hotel and travel by convertible jeep to the Lapa Arches also known as the Carioca Aqueduct, which was built in the eighteenth century. From here you will take the trolley car to Santa Tereza, where you will once again meet up with your guide. Santa Tereza is a traditional district with a mild climate and large houses built at the beginning of the twentieth century mainly by English railroad managers. It has now become an art center with many craftsmanship galleries and is the only district in Rio where you will find trolley cars. Continue to the Parque Nacional da Tijuca, the largest urban forest in the world, and up to Corcovado Hill, for a visit to the statue of Christ the Redeemer, one of Rio's most famous sites. From Corcovado, the beaches of Copacabana, Ipanema and Leblon, the Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon and the Botanical Garden can be seen. Return to the hotel.
Description
Jeep Tour was created in 1992 to take participants of the ECO92 to visit the largest urban forest in the world - The Tijuca Rain Forest. From there on, we continue showing and teaching the possibility of having tourism together with nature preservation. Jeep Tour exists to show an alternative side of Rio de Janeiro, the most beautiful and eclectic city in Brazil. Tours in convertible jeeps lead you to the contrast between the sea and the mountains of rain forest and between luxurious condos and slums.
ROUTE: Pick-up in convertible Jeeps at the hotel - Lapa Arches - Santa Tereza District - stop at Corcovado - Paineiras Road - Canoas Road - return to the hotel.
